• THE SOFTWARE is written in the BASIC programming language.
Some programs are 16-bit DOS software. They can run in either a 16-bit operating system, such as the perhaps-obsolete Windows 3.xx and DOS 6.xx or older; or, the programs can run under the 32-bit operating systems such as Windows 9x, ME, NT, 2000, XP, Vista (at the 'command prompt' or console).

~ The latest programs are 32-bit software. They require a 32-bit flavor of the Windows operating system. This is the case of MDIEditor and Lotto, written in Microsoft Visual Basic version 6.0 (VB 6).
~ Most 32-bit programs are text or character based. They are compiled with Power Basic Console Compiler (PBCC). They require the 32-bit DOS or command processor of the 32-bit Windows operating system.

The command processor must be enabled for Ion Saliu's 32-bit console applications to run. It is highly recommended to run these programs at the command prompt.

If file names are requested, type them accurately, including the path.
If the program offers defaults, just press {Enter} to accept them. Be sure that the default files are in the current directory (or folder; e.g. C:\SALIU\FileName.TXT).

All programs and software at this site run on PC only (Intel processors + Microsoft OS: DOS or Windows 9x, ME, NT, 2000, XP, Vista). Ion Saliu's software will not run on Apple Macintosh, or Linux/Unix, or other platforms.
Network security settings could prevent running Ion Saliu's software. Run it at home, not at work!

2. How To Download The Freeware Software — After Registration
You may need to right-click on the link if you are a PC user, and then select the appropriate option from the Pop-up menu ( Save Target As). PC users can also click or double-click on a link to start the downloading. Sometimes, if you double-click (or single left-click) on the link, some programs might attempt to start or run. To avoid any problem, it is recommended to right-click, then select 'Save Target As', then select 'Save', NOT 'Open'.

• You will download the files to your local drive. In the "Download" dialog box, check the option "Save this file to disk". Preferably, you already created a folder named Download on your hard drive. If not, open Windows Explorer and select drive C: (highlight it). Open the "File" menu and select "New", then "Folder". Type "Download" over "New Folder" and press "Enter".
• Then, any time you download a file it will be saved to C:\Download.

3. The Compressed Files (With The ZIP Extension) Need To Be Unzipped
There is one more step. Files with the .ZIP extension need to be decompressed. Use for the task a popular utility such as PKUnzip, or WinZip. These applications are also offered as shareware. Windows XP includes a compressing (zipping) and decompressing feature in the operating system. It is very good — and it is free!

Life is even easier if there is another folder on your drive: C:\Unzip. You will decompress all your .ZIP files from C:\Download to C:\Unzip.

• There is another type of compressed files: self-extracting. They have the .EXE extension and do not need an unzipping utility. Double-click the self-extracting file. Choose C:\UNZIP as the destination directory to decompress it.

• Nota bene! You should always delete all the old files in C:\UNZIP before decompressing (unzipping) the newest downloaded file. Download one zipped (compressed) package at a time, unzip it, and then install it. Finally, clean up the C:\UNZIP folder. Then you go back to C:\DOWNLOAD and work with another compressed package, etc.

4. How To Install And Run Your Free Software
The final step is to install the application. In Windows Explorer go to the folder C:\Unzip. Look for files named Setup. exe or, more rarely, Install.exe (Install.bat even more rarely). Click on such a file to start the installation (setup) process.
• After you downloaded, unzipped, and installed the programs, make sure everything works fine. If everything works as expected, go back to your download and unzip folders and delete all the files. Otherwise, those folders get really messy after a while.

• A small percentage of the LotWon software users encounter difficulties in the basic areas:
1) downloading;
2) installing;
3) creating the data files.

The solutions are extremely simple, if a minimum of computer knowledge is involved. The user needs to read more thoroughly the "Help" page, the "What's New" page -- if this comprehensive information is not enough.

• The "Search" page of this website can direct you to plenty of information. The message board (New Writings in the footer) is a goldmine of gambling and lottery information. Just click the Search button. Type your query; e.g. 'lottery data files', or 'lottery filters', or 'gambling systems', etc. The search engine will return plenty of results.

Here is a tip. Use MDIEditor and Lotto WE or any other text editor/word processor to create an info file named "SaliuComInfo". When you find on this site text of help to you, copy it to the clipboard (Ctrl+C). Then open "SaliuComInfo" and paste (Ctrl+V). Soon you'll get a file with a load of very useful information.

5. Categories Of Freeware Software Available From Ion Saliu
This page used to hold all software titles available for downloading. Since a lot of titles are continuously added, it had become increasingly difficult to maintain the software downloads site. I made the decision to break the software in a number of categories. So, before you can download any title, you need to access first the entry page for a specific category. If you need to download programs in several categories (most visitors do), you will return to this hub page. You can select your categories and programs only here. Some programs are listed in two or more categories.

The software being free, it would only cost you some time to download and test. It's not an arm and a leg! You may want to download everything offered, as many visitors do. Then take your time trying or testing everything you got. You will find the same programs in different incarnations! Running the newest version is the preferred procedure. I also recommend you put all DOS (command prompt or character mode) programs in a DOS menu. The best packages are MENU.EXE and IONMENU.EXE (software download category 5.7).
